Lip Balm. Highend or Drugstore?

Its the winter months and most of us get the typical cold dry lips. The question for most is what chap-stick/lip balm should I use, where to buy, and will it work. Both Highend and drugstores offer all types of lip balm but what ones really work?
Drugstore lip balms range from $1.00 to $5.00 price tag depending on some locations and are easier for people to get there hands on. Highend lip balms range from $5.00 to $30.00. Sometimes more depending on brand and location. Highend places such as Sephora, Ulta, and major department stores (Macy`s, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale`s) all carry brands from Dior, YSL, Jack Black, Korres, Sugar, and etc. While drugstores carry Burt's Bees, EOS, Mayballine Baby Lips, Nivea, and etc.

Each brand has different formulas/scents of lip balms as well for example, EOS has many different scents such as lemon, mint, and tropical, and sometimes special occasions scents like the newest EOS Alice In Wonderland Collection. Nivea has different types of formulas like there Kiss of Honey, A Kiss of Moisture, A Kiss of Smoothness, Milk & Honey, and even a lip balm that appeals to men. Maybelline Baby Lips have something unique to them they are glossy, moisturizing, and have some color pay off; similar to a gloss without being sticky. Jack Black has a tube like packaging that you have to squeeze out they are clear that have different scents to them. I only have one that I cannot use for very long because the scents just gets to me, but when I do use it, it does make my lips feel very soft.

I personally have not tired all of the brands mentioned above but I have tired a lot of lip balms because I do get chapped lips a lot through out the year. So here are just a few mini reviews on the lip balms I have tried so far:
-Jack Black: Gets an A on packaging and texture of there lip balms. However let me tell you know I am so smell sensitive that I cannot get over smells that I do not like, unlike most people who can get over the smell of something. I only have one scents and I cannot stand it. I want to try to normal mint scent so I can get more use out of the brand. Cost is $7.00 at Sephora & Ulta.

-EOS: I love the packing on the EOS lip balms they are so colorful and look like cute Easter Eggs to me. Each color has a special scent to go with it for example: the mint green is a mint flavor, the yellow is a lemon flavor, and the pink is a strawberry flavor. The lip balm it self is a sold and is very smooth going on the lips but I find that it does not last on my lips very long. My lips just dry out a little while after putting on the lip balm which is not something I want in a lip balm. Cost is between $2-3 at any drugstore.

-Nivea: These are my one FAVORITE drugstore lip balm at the moment, Nivea has great packaging. It is in a tube like packaging that you twist up and down. These are so moisturizing on the lips and it last for a reasonable amount of time on the lips. At night I have been using the Kiss of Moisture on my lips and when I wake up in the morning it is still on my lips and they are so soft. The only negative is the one that comes in a pink tube is not as moisturizing as all the others and the color is not one of my favorites. The most beloved one around the blogger world seems to be Milk & Honey which has a great scent and is moisturizing on the lips. Cost is between $1-4 at any drugstore.

-Korres: This is one of my favorites highend lip balms I can only really stand the smell of is the Jasmine(the light pink top) and let me tell you I love the smell of this lip balm. The packaging I am not the biggest fan of but I can live with it. The packaging is a twist off top that you have to use something to get the product out with rather it be a brush your figure or anther make-up tool. Make sure when you are using a product like this or any make-up really to have clean hands before using the product. Each different scent has a different color to it and the color pay off varies with each different scent. The formula of the Korres lip butter is very moisturizing and feels great on the lips. The only downside to me the packaging. Price is $12.00 at Sephora or Ulta.

-Sugar: Sugar lip balms are anther of my favorite highend lip balms. It comes in a twist up and down tube packaging which i prefer in a lip product most of the time. The product itself is very glossy and moisturizing on the lips and has great color pay off for a lip balm; if you choice to get one with color. However I myself have not bought a Sugar lip balm, I got my Sugar lip balm as a free birthday gift from Sephora in early 2012. I will NOT be buying the full size product because the cost is $22.00 at Sephora and Ulta! There are just to many other great products at better prices for example; the Maybelline Baby Lips are just as moisturizing and have that same glossy finish to them, they may not have the exact colors but I would much rather pay $3-4 then $22 for a lip balm. The Sugar lip balm themselves are not bad products I just would not spend the money on them.

All in all, drugstore or highend is really the buyers choice and the kind of product that you are wanting to buy. I personally think that I will keep buying both. Everyone has a different likes and dislikes. So some products I may not want to spend the money is something someone else cannot live without.
